Manzano (mahn zah noh) originates in South America and is found growing on the Andean mountain slopes and is among the oldest of domesticated chilies having been cultivated for thousands of years. If protected from the frost this chili can live for over 15 years and can be trellised like a grape vine.
This is one of my favorite chilies for fresh salsa. Out of the three colors the yellow is the hottest, followed by orange and then red. Although they are lower on the scoville scale, they seem much hotter than habaneros due to the unique qualities of capsaicins in the chile.
This is the only species of chili that has black seeds.
30,000 - 100,000 Scovilles.
All seeds sold were grown in 2013 for the 2014 planting season.
