Shawe Family Farms is a small farm located in Olympia, WA. We homeschool our children and use the farm to teach them organic and sustainable practices. During the year we have a harvest a wide variety or vegetables, greens, herbs, and fruits. We have added an orchard containing apples, pears, plums, apricots, peaches and nectarines. Roaming the pastures we have Narragansett and standard bronze turkeys. We raise American Chinchilla and New Zealand rabbits for fur and meat. Oberhasli dairy goats provide us with milk and our Boer goats supply pastured raised meat. For those that spin we have a small herd of alpacas that give us a supply of wonderfully soft and warm fiber. As I mentioned before, we produce all of our products naturally and organically, with the health and happiness of our animals in mind. We sell the products of our animals as well as their offspring each year. Currently we are working on getting chickens for meat and eggs, putting in a hoop house, and the kids want to dabble in aquaponics and tilapia. Starting in the 2014, we will be offering free classes to learn homesteading skills such as knitting, cheese and soap making, animal care, gardening, and much more. Come check us out!
