Shepherd's Lamb is produced on our family ranch in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. We offer our customers the only Certified Organic, grassfed lamb in New Mexico. By maintaining control of our product from raising the lambs to marketing them, we are able to offer lamb that many of our customers say is the best they have ever tasted. Our flock consists of Rambouillet, Churro (a heritage breed), and Dorper sheep.
Our flock grazes all summer on lush native mountain grasses (wheat grass, grama and fescues) and their favorite shrubs, such as mountain mahogany and snowberry. While on summer pasture, the flock and the shepherd's camp are moved to a new location weekly. This allows the ewes and lambs to have access to fresh feed at all times and ensures the long term good health of the range.
Because our lambs are never in a feedlot, they eat plenty of fresh feed and get plenty of exercise, giving them the delicate taste that is the hallmark of Shepherd's Lamb.
Our lamb can be purchased by mail-order by going online to organiclamb.com. We also sell at Farmers' Markets in Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Taos and Albuquerque, NM as well as restaurants and natural food stores in those cities.
