Sidewalk's End Farm is a small operation spread over a string of large lots in the city of Portland, OR. This year we will be at Porltand area farmers markets with an array of strong organic vegetable and herb starts. In the past we have offered full season and winter storage CSA shares and participated in area farmer's markets. Some seasonal humility, an ounce or two of peak-oil-climate-change-disaster-capitalist-doomerism, and the feeling that hearty crops like dry beans, corn, potato, winter squash, leek, carrot and beet are some of the best food there is, has inspired us to create our niche in late season storage crops. If they are adapted to local conditions, produce abundantly, thrive (or at least survive) in adversity, store well in the field or in the cellar, and provide large amounts of nutrition per unit of land cultivated, we grow them.
The farm is owned and run by two young women, with organic and biodynamic training. Unfortunately, we cannot take interns at this time. Please visit our website, or better yet, in person.
