Silver Rain Farm is a small family business with a mission of providing the most flavorful, fresh, and locally adapted vegetables (always naturally grown) to local markets.
We specialize in heirloom tomato "starts" or plants in the spring as well as peppers and eggplant. Later we have a large array of vegetables (including heirloom tomatoes) at market.
Please ask for a sample of our best selling peanut butter/ oatmeal bars. Made with local honey and many organic ingredients. These are a huge seller. We take orders by phone or contact us here.
We feature several varieties of GARLIC! It is always a great seller. In 2014 we will feature our tried and true varieties...Inchellium Red, Music, Spanish Roja, and Susanville. A new variety this year is a hardneck, German Red. The "seed" (really the large heads) I acquired from Red Gate Garlic was SO beautiful. I can hardly wait to observe them growing and to harvest them.
Last year I participated in growing out some seed for Joseph Simcox's rare seed bank. Joe is a botanical explorer and world food plant ecologist who has spent decades traveling the globe documenting and tasting thousands of edibles. This was a fun and satisfying experience for me. If you would like to hear more about what Joe does visit Rareseeds.com (noting his name). He can also be seen in The Whole Seed Catalog from Baker Creek Heirloom Seed. Besides our beautiful garlic braids, this year we are featuring assortment packs (labeled) of garlic varieties. See you at market!
