Singing Hills Goat Dairy, formerly Earth's Return Farm, is owned and operated by Lynne Reeck and Kate Wall. We have been farming our 25 acre farm together for the last 8 years. In the beginning we grew vegetables for market, but found our passion and land was more suited to animals, specifically goats---the passion part.

So three years ago we began the process of starting a goat dairy. Lynne worked for Mary Doerr, Dancing Winds Farms, many years ago and had an interest and desire to not only milk goats but also make cheese. Lynne took cheese making classes in Wisconsin and then apprenticed at Faribault Dairy. We also started to think about herd management issues as goats had begun as side thing on the farm. Kate went to several trainings and has focused learning about nutrition and holistic herd management to continue the sustainable practices that Earth's Return Farm was originally founded on.

It took the support of a monthly meeting group, and many hours of hashing and rehashing plans before Lynne and Kate were able to put up a cheese plant at their farm outside of Nerstrand in July of 2009. They became licensed as a cheese plant in late November 2009 and began making cheese in the spring of 2010.

Singing Hills currently has two main staple cheeses: Chevre and Feta. All of our products are 100% goat milk, made with milk from our goats and milk purchased from a woman south of Watamingo. Singing Hills Goat Dairy also raises pigs on whey and milk, and looks forward to growing herbs to be used in their cheeses, and chickens in the coming years.
