This is a seasonally-inspired workshop series taught by local author, Kate Payne and occationally featuring co-teacher, Stephanie McClenny, founder of Austin's acclaimed small-batch, artisan preserves company, Confituras.
In these fun, interactive classes you will learn not only the fundamentals of safe canning and preserving, but also the principles of balancing flavor and sweetness in the making of preserves. We always work with seasonal fruits and vegetables, so classes highlight the variety of Texas produce we see throughout the year from local farmers. Every participant takes home a jar of preserves and light refreshments are served.
This class is geared toward beginners as we will be going over the basics of canning and flavor combinations. Stay tuned for intermediate and advanced classes in the near future.
