We are proud to offer hatching eggs from the breeds of rare heritage chickens we like best, including the Spangled Russian Orloffs. If you keep even a small backyard flock -- or want to start one -- you can help conserve this extremely rare breed, listed as "critical" by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.
We have fallen in love with the Russian Orloffs, who are the calmest, most tamable breed we have ever met . Along with the Cochins, they are the perfect chicken for turning into backyard pets. They are also strikingly beautiful -- tall, elegant-looking birds -- and they are good layers of very large eggs.
Russian Orloffs come in quite a few different colors; ours are the "spangled" type, a rich mahogany color with white flecks. They have very feathery heads, sporting a beard and earmuffs.
A very old Persian breed, they got their name from Count Orloff, who imported them into Russia.
We cannot guarantee hatch rates, but will ship your fertile eggs with the utmost care, and we do guarantee their safe arrival.
