At Spice Farm we use ecologically sound and sustainable practices such as rain harvesting, hand weeding, IPM, companion planting, crop rotations and compost from our own heritage breed chickens to grow carefully selected varieties of organic and often heirloom, open-pollinated seed. We are guided by the principles of biodynamic farming and permaculture. We use a mixture of practices, but no GMOs (we'd rather buy conventional seed from a reliable and ecological company than 'organic' seed from Burpee/Monsanto) and we do not use any harmful chemical pesticides, etc. We nourish the soil and believe that healthy soil and plants are the roots of our outstanding produce.
