Spuria are extremely hardy, drought-tolerant iris that make excellent cut flowers due to their multiple blooms on one stalk that open one or two at a time. The leaves themselves are used to enhance other flower arrangements.
Will grow in nearly all soils, the dryer the better, soggy soils not recommended although our Yellow Variety (unknown species but very old) - originated in Iraq and grew in the swamps. Our local Santa Barbara zoo grows them as submerged water plants in ponds - grown in buckets (yellow variety only).
The species shown is Bali Bali, and is not the yellow variety referred to but a picture of it is show elsewhere on this page.
