What makes St. Marys perfect for a Community Market? Well, the first public markets were established in Europe during the early 18th century on the levees, where ships docked at the riverbank. Open air markets would sell locally grown produce, fragrant baked goods, seafood just off the boat, as well as hand-made crafts and wares to suit any need; the list could go on and on.
The St. Marys Community Market will serve many purposes. The primary goals include enticing the local citizenry to our amazing downtown area; attracting those visiting patrons to our impressive historical district in hopes that they will continue their venture downtown to include our local merchants and restaurants; and to provide a splendid arena to showcase the abundant local goods and talents readily available here.
Open throughout the year, the market will have a family-friendly atmosphere, which will become a great gathering place and the talk of the town. Just close your eyes and imagine the aroma of fresh baked bread wafting on a breeze off the river; the taste of sweet honey fresh from the hive on your tongue; the feel of hand made soaps on your skin; or the sight of that hand made craft simply perfect for your decor.
Let your heightened senses lead the way to 206 Osborne Street where the St. Marys Community Market reminds her guests of the European open-air markets without you ever booking a flight. The market will be open every Saturday, 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

They have been trying extremely hard over the last 2 years to get the downtown area re-established by having the market at the waterfront. The market has also helped the community by having a free school supply day and gave away over 300 bags to children of all ages.
