Stinging nettle should be planted in it's own spot away from the main garden and not allowed to go to seed or it will spread . It also spreads by runners like mint. It is worth growing however because it has tremendous soil building and health benifits . It is one of the Biodynamic herbs .
Planting instructions : Nettle seed is very tiny.. like dust . We mix a pack of seed with 1/2 cup of dry sand and then sprinkle it over a flat full of moist seed starting mix , cover with plastic to keep it moist and check daily -remove plastic when seedlings emerge. It is slow to germinate and slow growing . Wait till the seedlings are an inch tall before potting them up to bigger pots . Transplant into a bed when they are 4 " tall .
It is great to feed to animals and humans as a supplement . Makes a great tea and cooking herb. We feed it to baby chicks as soon as they are hatched . We also made an herbal fertilizer with it.

All of our seed offerings were grown here. We have been seed savers for 20 years. Our seeds are packaged in original art packets, hand folded with 100% recycled paper. Instructions for growing are not on the packs but are on the listing under seed template. Books on gardening as well as many catalogs carry general information on growing seeds. I am available by e-mail or phone to answer any growing questions as well. You won't find that service from many sources of seeds . The shipping on our orders also includes the processing and handling charges which is also less or equal to most seed companies. Remember we hand pack each order and drive from the farm to the post office to ship your order. We are not a big seed company, in fact not a company at all. We are homestead gardeners.
