I started Call of the Wool at the age of 16. Now, after almost five years of careful breeding, I am shepherdess to 39 incredibly lovely Shetland sheep as well as being some of the sweetest and friendliest sheep you are ever likely to find anywhere. Shetland Sheep come in 11 natural colors and over 30 patter variations! They have lusciously soft fleeces with outstanding fleece length (I have had fleeces up to 12 inches in length) and luster. At Call of the Wool we strive to preserve the variety of colors and fleece types found in the Shetland breed. Shetlands are small in stature, easy to handle and perfect for families. My sheep come running when I call them and wiggle their tails in response to petting and attention. As the owner of Call of the Wool, I do all the shearing, lambing and vaccinating of the sheep as well as much of the required medical care, which sometimes comes with having sheep. I hand spin all the yarn offered for sale and create my own knit and crochet patterns to ensure that every creation is an original work of art.
