Pawpaws: the Indiana Banana!

From "way down yonder in the pawpaw patch": Indiana pawpaws!

The pawpaw tree (Asimina triloba) is the only temperate member of the Annonaceae (Custard Apple) Family. A shrubby tree, it grows prolifically in our forests, and produces its luscious fruit at the end of Summer.

The 2-4" fruit has multiple large seeds. As the fruit ripens, it changes from green, to yellowish-green, and eventually to brownish-black. Some consider blackened fruit the most flavorful, and but the greenish fruits we send you will ripen to perfection, and in my opinion, are best eaten as soon as they become nice and soft.

The pawpaw's flavor is very difficult to describe, although everyone agrees it has has a custard-like consistency and something of a banana-ish flavor, with hints of papaya, pear, mango, and pineapple.

Just slice open the skin and spoon out the contents -- you've never tasted anything quite like it!

Please note: a perfectly ripe pawpaw is not a "pretty" fruit. The blackening is normal, and some bruising may appear, as the ripe fruit is extraordinarily soft. The flavor and edibility will not be affected.

We will send you these delectable fruits straight from our Indiana pawpaw grove. Your tastebuds will thank you!
