Juniper Berry Support Tea / Wild Berries
Perfect For Treating Belching, Heartburn and Bloating! Juniper Berry is also used for indigestion and digestive disorders such as belching, heartburn, and bloating, as well as menstrual problems and diabetes. Its effectiveness for these conditions has not, however, been verified. This familiar household seasoning has a significant diuretic effect, flushing excess water from the body. It's this ability to increase the flow of urine that makes Juniper a useful aid in the treatment of urinary infections and kidney stones.
The berries' diuretic action also tends to lower blood pressure, although not sufficiently to warrant therapeutic use. They have been historically recommended for urinary problems, gout, rheumatic complaints, and flatulence. The systems of the body that are affected by juniper berries are the kidneys and the stomach. It is anti-inflammatory for arthritic and rheumatic ailments as well as being a useful carminative for indigestion and flatulence. It was traditionally the primary flavoring in gin.
Caution: Do not take Juniper Berry if you have a kidney inflammation. Protracted use of Juniper Berry can irritate and damage the kidneys. Do not use continuously for more than 6 weeks. Do not take Juniper Berry during pregnancy. References:Balch, 1997 BHMA Scientific,Tyler 1994
