Goldencurls Willow Cuttings
Salix Matsudana Golden Curls Common Name: Golden Curls Willow Distinctive yellowish stems that are contorted and twisted. It often is shrubby in habit, though it may form a small tree with semi-pendulous branches. The leaves are also curled on this plant. 25-30' tall; 15-20' wide; fast grower; Zone: 4
Each cutting will have at least 4 viable buds on it. To plant them all you need to do is stick them in the ground or a pot. You can do this any time that the ground is not frozen. Make sure that the buds are pointing up and push them all the way in. If you push them in with the buds pointing down they will die. The top bud is all that should be sticking out of the dirt. Mulch them well and make sure they don't dry out. They will wake up and start growing when it is time, they will know when. You can keep them trimmed to shape as they grow. In good soil and enough water they will probably get 5 ft. tall their first season.
These plants are dormant. If you get these cuttings and the ground is frozen or if you don't have time to plant now you can put them in a ziplock bag as soon as you receive them and put them in the freezer. When you are ready just take them out and stick them in a pot or the ground they will come out of dormancy when it is time. The roots and the leaves will grow at the same time when the temperature is right.
