This was an experiment several years ago inspired by lack of freezer space. We discovered almost a gallon of blackberries from Grandma's backyard berry patch hiding behind the mangled hamburger buns that were useless for anything but juice. ...the blackberries, that is. We fed the mangled buns to the chickens.
So we juiced the berries to discover we didn't have enough for a full batch of jelly. Undaunted, we mixed a cup of blackberry juice into a batch of apple jelly. The result is a claret-colored jelly that's not quite apple and nowhere near blackberry. Better than both combined, it's been our most requested jelly since.
