Dill Seed -Naturally Produced; Heirloom
This seed will produce tall, fern-leaf type dill plants, which are suitable for planting either in your garden or in containers.
This is very fragrant, and is great for making home-made dill pickles and "dilly" beans.
Direct sow in the garden after danger of last frost has passed, in mid to late spring. Can also be started indoors, but dill does not always transplant very well. Plant successively for dill weed, flowers & seed throughout the summer.
This variety of dill will grow up to 4' high; it has a lovely dark blue-green fern-like foliage. In addition to being at home in an herb garden, these dill plants make very attractive background plants in a flower also. They are also suitable for growing in a container, provided it is large enough for root growth (no smaller than a 6" pot).
Once established, dill requires no special care. It will also reseed itself. You can have up to 3 plantings of dill per year, depending on your USDA Zone.
Use the flowers and leaves (weed) in your pickles and for making dilly beans and herbed vinegars. Let the seed heads dry on the plant and collect the seeds either for culinary use, or to save for next year's crop.
If you see caterpillars, don't kill them!! They are the "babies" of swallowtail butterflies.
Each pack contains a minimum of 50 fresh, viable dill seed, naturally produced for 2014 Growing Season
Peacefully HomeGrown NEVER uses chemicals in the garden.
