SUMMER 2014 CSA
The Summer 2014 CSA starts in early June with crops such as broccoli rabe, early tomatoes, spinach, brazing greens, herbs, spicy salad mix, baby greens, radish, green beans and more. By July we expect beets, peppers, eggplant, salad turnips, and other roots. The fruit portion of the CSA starts with blueberries and then peaches. In August the garlic should be cured and longer growing vegetables like cabbage, leeks and cauliflower are planned to add in. In September we will have apples and pears for fruit and winter squash plus more of the above summer crops to finish out the outdoor growing season.
An additional bonus is fresh maple syrup. There is a pint included with each share. This is one of our winter crops.
We have drop sites in Cheshire, Prospect, Bethany, and Westville, Connecticut.
When the shares are packed, food families are considered for tasty variation and health. For example, a chicory like endive, a brassica like russian kale, a parsley like fennel, a chenopod like chard, a legume like pea shoots, some vine crops such as cucumis like cucumbers and solinacea vegetables like pepper and tomato might be in the basket along with a fruit that is in season.
Your crops are grown in nutrient dense rich compost. We use OMRI guidelines for spot insect and disease problems and bio-control with lacewings, ladybugs, nematodes, and helpful, friendly insects. We are non-gmo. A lot of effort goes into bringing you the best crop we can.
