Shearing Sheep and Processing your Own Wool

"How to Shear Sheep"

with Danny Smith of Missouri, a third generation sheep shearer who knows how to shear with hand spinners in mind. We get every angle immaginable and close up as possible. Shot in the field, with loud shears running , contains narration but more informational than instructive, unless you can grasp 1000 words per picture. Very handy if you need to get that close view for you own knowledge. This single film runs 30 minutes.

"Processing Your Own Wool"

After we leave Barakel farm with a few raw fleeces, we take them home to prepare them for spinning. This film will show the viewer just where to go from a fleece in the grease to clean spinable/felting fiber. Starting with culling and sorting out the dirty stuff, washing the fleeces in several wash waters, how to do that without them felting, soap, additives, drying, along with picking, and carding. The run time is 45 minutes
