Sugar Hill Cranberry Co. is located in the valley of Sugar Hill in Columbia Falls (Downeast) Maine where we grow three varieties of cranberries on ten acres of bogs. Our Maine-grown cranberries are large, juicy, tart and ruby red in color...thanks to the cool Maine nights. We harvest using "dry" and "water" methods. We "hand scoop" using the same type of cranberry scoop Christine's grandparents did in the 1950s. For our water harvested berries, a water beater is used to knock berries off the vines. Since cranberries have an air pocket, they float in the water and are corraled in booms and pumped out of the water into trucks for processing. We have recently purchased an antique cranberry separator from the 1930s and exhibit it at the largest agriculture fair in Fryeburg, where cranberries can be purchased. Our cranberries are sold wholesale, at farmer's markets, area farmstands and apple orchards...or off the website in one-pound reclosable bags or in bulk...we can accommodate small and large orders.
