Sun Circle Farm is a new family farm owned by an experienced grower who ran a local University-affiliated CSA for several years. Sun Circle Farm is the culmination of our family's dream to run and live on our own sustainable farm. We offer a large variety of high-quality fresh produce as we pursue our goal of integrated "deep organic" farm management. It is our belief that if we view the farm as a whole and focus on putting in place complimentary systems including happy healthy animals and biologically diverse plant rotations we can move towards farm-generated fertility and true sustainability. We grow over 200 varieties of plants from seed including herbs and annual and perennial flowers. We love to introduce our CSA members to exciting new vegetables while ensuring that they get enough of the beloved standards. This year for the first time we will also be raising heritage pigs in pastured rotations on a limited basis. We have a flock of laying hens moving through our pastures in their chicken tractor and hope to offer limited egg sales to CSA customers. Bouquets are available starting in July at our local Farmer's Markets, our weekly Farm Stand, and on pick-up days for our CSA customers. We like terms like "deep organic" or "beyond organic" to define our growing methods. We never use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. While we generally follow USDA organic methods as a minimum, we strive to go further by avoiding imported or overly processed amendments and fertilizers and relying on rock minerals and locally sourced fish bone meal for the majority of our fertility needs. It is our hope in the next few years to move closer to a truly closed system relying on age-tested methods of crop rotation, cover cropping, animal rotations, and composted multi-species manures. We love farming and take great pride in continuing to learn and improve our products to bring you the best-tasting and healthiest fresh produce possible. Farm Stand open July-October, Sundays 12pm-6pm.
