Sweetheart Farm is a family owned 28 acre farm. Currently our primary fruit crop consist of approximately 300 Thornless blackberry plants which start producing in early June. We also have a modest area of loganberries which also produces in early June. The loganberries are similar to the red raspberry and have a tart sweet taste. Our blueberry plants occupy two areas. One field is 8 years old and our new raised bed grows 50 plants and is 3 years old. The two blueberry area should offer a good harvest this year. Annual flowers are started in the greenhouse to plant in mid April just after the last frost. Our usual cut flower offerings include zinnias, sunflowers and lavender. We anticipate the brown turkey Figs and paw paws will be ready for harvest in early fall. Our orchard is young but we anticipate our semi dwarf apples, peaches, pears, cherries and plums will be available in 2015. .This year, 2014, we will begin our Beekeeping program to enhance the process of pollination for the berries and the fruit trees in our orchard, We are blessed to have 19 Guinea Fowl who forage bugs from our berries, fruit tree areas and our vegetable gardens thus minimizing the use of pesticides.
