(Platanus occidentalis)
With the most beautiful bark of any tree in the forest, Sycamores are a stunning aspect of the winter landscape. They are also fast-growing, and valuable as shade trees and bird habitat.
The Sycamore's striking bark is a mottled mix of green, tan and cream. Sycamores belong to one of the planet's oldest clan of trees, and may reach ages of five to six hundred years.
The Sycamore will grow to a great size, and its height offers good habitat for woodpeckers and for nesting orioles, which we see every year in our Sycamores.
