Terra Nova Community Farm at Terra Nova High School

Terra Nova Community Farm at Terra Nova High School is a small student run farming program. With the guidance of an experienced farmer, the students run the day to day operations of the farm. The main goals of our program are to educate students about sustainable agriculture, small business management and building community around the farm. The students are working to turn a ¾ acre plot into a small farm using organic growing techniques. The students are involved in every step of the process from planning what crops to grow to marketing to teaching community members about what they are learning. In addition to working in the gardens planting and weeding, the students’ classroom lessons in science and math are closely tied to the farm. Students earn high school credit through their internship on the farm and independent research projects.
