The Farmers' Daughter is a North Carolina Farm Fresh Certified Roadside Farm Market in Taylorsville, NC. Our business is to provide the freshest produce to our customers. We are unique because if we do not grow something, we buy it locally, within Alexander County.
We encourage our customers to buy locally grown produce, because it helps our local food economy! It also allows us to educate our customers on: growing seasons, nutritional value, and food quality. These things all get lost when you shop from a "global"market! Our vegetables are vine ripened and picked at the peak of perfection!
A grocery store just can't compete with the look, taste, and feel of our vegetables. Don't be surprised when you come by, if we go out into the garden and actually pick what you need!
The Farmers' Daughter is based on the knowledge that people love to eat the freshest fruit and vegetables. Owners Amy Icenhour Douglas and Jason Douglas have a family history and hard work ethic required to grow the highest quality vegetables around. Amy is the daughter of Vinson and Mary Ann Icenhour, vegetable farmers from Taylorsville, NC. Her family has farmed the same land for at least 7 generations. "It's what we know how to do," Amy said. "You can't get it any fresher than right out of our garden or fresh off the trees or plants of our local growers!" After pursuing her Master's Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering and the birth of their daughter, Lily, Amy went back to her roots. She wanted to raise her daughter the way that she was raised; right beside her mom and dad. She is now 5 years old and has been joined by baby brother, Max (3 year old). Jason brings a hard work ethic and ingenuity to the operation that the green thumb (Amy) does not have. He is the son Steve and Cecilia Douglas. Steve is a lifetime mason and Jason works with his father in the family business (Douglas Masonry).
