Thompson Street Farm is a small family farm in South Glastonbury Connecticut. Our vegetables are grown in 20 raised beds including a green house. We use no chemicals and/or pesticides and follow the growing guidelines for organic growers. This year (2011), we added 6 more raised bed and built several micro-green houses to grow trays of micro-greens.
For the 2011 growing season we are growing the following:
Lettuce - Green and Red leaf; Romaine; Bib Swiss Chard Baby Arugula Baby Spinach. Fresh herbs: basil; parsley; sage; thyme; mint; Fingerling potatoes Tomatoes: Celebrity (med size); cherry; grape Micro-greens (retail) - pea tendrils; arugula
CT Farm to Chef Program (Hartford County): Micro-greens - contact us with your needs
We have a small flock of Rhode Island Red hens and sell eggs at our farm stand as well. Our chickens are hormone and antibiotic free and are raised humanely. They eat an exceptional diet of organic chicken feed, vegetables from our garden and kitchen and any other insects, bugs and vegetation they can find as they wander around.
In addition to our vegetables, we have a hand crafted soap line and other personal care products. We have a gift line called "Simple Gifts" and are available at our website's online store and at our booth the Manchester Community College Farmers Market. These gifts are hand made from natural fibers, dried lavender and other herbs and herbal extracts. Most of the raw ingredients are grown on our farm, purchased from our neighbors or acquired from other suppliers here in the state. We try our best to keep to our commitment to the meaning local means local.
Our farm stand uses the honor system and is located at 49 Thompson Street. Every Saturday and Sunday starting July 2, 2011 the farm stand will be open from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
We also have a booth at the Manchester Community College Farmers Market every Wednesday starting June 29, 2011 from 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM. All our products will be available at the farmers market. So come check us out!
