Common Name: Tomato, Super Sioux
Latin: Solanum lycopersicum
These were developed in 1944 by the University of Nebraska. They weigh about 6 oz each and have a wonderful tangy yet sweet flavor. They are an excellent producer even in the hottest weather.
Tomatoes are full of lycopene. Lycopene is an anti-oxidant that is responsible for the removal of free radicals from the body, 10 times more effective the vitamin E. Tomatos are the ultimate preventative medicine. They reduce the risk of stomach, lung, and prostate cancer. In addition they are good for the heart and will reduce a woman's risk of delivering a child with spinal cord and/or brain defects.
This variety cut into cubes mixed with english cucumbers, feta, olive oil, a few garlic chives, and some sea salt. YUM.
