OP. Heirloom from Italy. Extremely rare and endangered. We were given one plant by Abundant Acres, who had requested seed from the USDA seed bank. We grew our one plant two years ago, and loved the eggplant. It is large, roundish and squat, deep purple, and the quality is excellent - just perfect for roasting and eggplant parmesan. We also canned many jars of caponata. We can find no information on the internet. It is that rare. Help us keep this variety from going extinct by growing a plant or two, saving seeds and spreading them around to other concerned growers.
Our plants are sustainably raised in our own potting mix. We use only organic fertilizers and sprays if needed. We have been growing and selling plants since 1997.
Our tomato plants are shipped in individual 3" deep pots. They are 4 to 10 inches tall and are ready to be planted out in your garden.
We package our plants with extreme care so they arrive undamaged at your doorstep. Each plant is tucked into its own padded sleeve. The soil in each pot is covered so it will not spill out. A plant tag identifying the variety is included with each plant.
We ship every Monday and Tuesday, from late March into June.
We are currently accepting orders for the 2015 season. All of our plants are now available to order. Please note that Local Harvest has asked us to raise our plant prices and lower our shipping prices. So, although it looks like our prices have gone up, they actually have not. Once shipping is figured, you should pay about the same as last year. \\r\\nWithin 24 hours of receiving your order, we will e-mail you with a shipping date that we choose based on your last frost date. You are welcome to change the date to any other shipping week. Just respond to the e-mail and tell us when you want your plants.
