We are a small, family-run farm, committed to closed-system, sustainable agriculture. We produce eggs, muscadine grapes, and garden vegetables. We currently have approximately 150 hens laying delicious eggs. Our hens are not caged. They spend all day outdoors, eating fresh native plants and grasses, cover crops, improved pasture, bugs, and worms. The feed we provide for them is custom-milled all natural whole grain. We do not give them antibiotics, hormones or any chemicals. They also get many scraps from our garden and farm crops. All of the muscadine grapes and vegetables we grow are grown without chemical fertilizer, pesticides or herbicides and we do NOT use plastic mulch. We compost intensively to build our soil organically so our produce is safe, nutritious, delicious and environmentally friendly. We compost and build our soil with composted manure, heavy mulching and with vermiculture. We are constantly experimenting with new techniques to protect the long-term viability of sustainable agriculture on our farm. We are following organic agricultural practices, but are debating organic certification due to the fact that the certification process will necessarily increase our prices.
Sustainably-produced, range-fed, chemical-hormone-antibiotic-free, hand-gathered fresh eggs; fruits and vegetables produced without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides; all produce is planted and harvested by hand and all farm practices are done in the most environmentally-conscious means possible.
