I have been breeding and growing organic cotton since the 80's but in 2000 I took over a flock of organic colored merino sheep. I had been on the path towards farming biodynamically and so they fit in with my goal of on farm holistic soil fertility. I am still learning and growing and only still certified organic and not certified Demeter. I strive for humane handling of the sheep. I was finally able to purchased a great system to be able to sort and doctor them in a reduced stress manner. I do not dock tails or castrate, but this leaves me with too many rams and so I have found a humane slaughter facility at Superior Farms where I can bring 3 or 4 ram lambs in at a time for harvest of meat.
