People don't realize how fabulous a really fresh walnut can taste. Our Hollister Chandler walnuts have been CCOF (Certified Organic) for the past 8 years, We changed nothing ......but decided not to re-certify since 2006 ..............too expensive for our family farm.
Here's the secret that you should know.....Walnuts should be kept refrigerated, never frozen. There's an oil that escapes from a walnut once it is cracked. That's why the ones in the stores taste sooooo bitter and have that terrible after-bite that stings your throat. Walnuts that have been sitting on the shelf for months lose their flavor because the oil in the walnut turns rancid rather quickly. We keep our WALNUTS in cold storage at a constant 40 degrees & pack them as needed ensuring the best tasting walnuts. They'll last in your refrig for over six months and be perfectly fresh. Seriously!
The best tasting apricot in the world (and the only one worth buying) is the Blenheim apricot. Our family has been growing the fabulous apricots since 1947 & we're positive there's no better apricot.
