West Texas Heritage Garden

Midland, Texas

The City of Midland is partnering with the community to create a community garden, The West Texas Heritage Garden, located at the Scarborough/Linebery House, 802 S. Main. Starting in May of 2010 the garden will allow members of the community to grow their own produce and flowers on individual plots as well as help with a 2,000 square foot donation garden.

The community garden will be the foundation for residents to learn self-reliance and organic food production methods, to produce nutritionally dense food, and to reinforce community connection. The donation garden will help supply local agencies with fresh and organically raised fruits and vegetables, provide a hands-on educational opportunity for all, and offer a chance to serve the community.

The West Texas Heritage Garden will offer a special chance to grow our community through the love of food, gardening, service, and social connection. Together we can create a new commitment to the bountiful spirit of West Texas.
