We bought land for Whitefeather Organics in fall of 2006. Tony has been involved in farming his whole life and farming organically for over 12 years. Crop rotation and garden separation are used to control pests. For soil nutrition, we use intense cover cropping, grazing, and a large farm-based compost. The organic feed used to supplement the livestock's growth is ground at a local mill and is grown certified organic by a local farmer. We don't have a walk in cooler! Our crops are harvested fresh for every delivery. We incorporate new perennials every year; like asparagus, mushrooms, fruit/timber trees, berries, animals and new veggies. Sustainability for community is the goal of our farm, and we keep that in mind in every aspect from where we get our energy, to how we build our buildings. E (more...)
