Butter Making Workshop
Learn the "ins and outs" of homestead butter making. Tour the farm, meet the cows, and discuss the affect of various breeds, feeds, seasons, and lactation cycles on cream quality.
Make butter! Skimming, temperature of cream, hand churning, mechanical churning, when it's done churning and what to do next will all be demonstrated and experienced.
Sweet vs. cultured, salted vs. non-salted, shelf life, storage; all this and more will be covered.
Taste it! Take some (1/4#) home. Taste real buttermilk and discuss what it is versus the store bought same product of the same name.
Fee is 40.00 per person. Register at 734 449 0247, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at events/facebook/firesignfamilyfarm.com.
