We are a small family farm that comes from a long line of farmers and a strong German heritage....thus the name "Willenskraft", German for "willpower". Everything raised on our farm is done in the most natural way possible. Our animals are not given any hormones, or chemical treatments, our plants are never sprayed or treated with unnatural additives to assist their growth. We lean towards heritage or heirloom in our produce and livestock if possible. Our biggest "claim to fame" is our crop of gourmet garlic, which was started in one tiny garden plot in the city with less than a handful of garlic. This last season we planted over 5000 cloves and are hoping for a good crop this fall. We have over 15 different varieties of garlic, ranging from mild flavors to "hot". When scapes come on in the early summer, we also offer homecrafted Garlic Scape Pesto in several varieties including Pecan, Sunflower Seed and Walnut. We LOVE to talk about garlic, please feel free to ask! We also offer butcher chickens and butcher rabbits, free range Muscovy duck, eggs, tomatoes and various other produce in season, and have a few berry patches including blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. We have several fruit trees including Peach, Apple, Apricot, Cherry and Plum. Nut trees include Chestnuts and both English and Black Walnuts. We have fresh goats milk available, and occasionally make cheese for the lactose intolerant. We are in the process of increasing our bee hives, and anticipate honey in the next season.

I had an opportunity to sample many of the fine garlic scape pestos produced at Willenskraft Farm this weekend. They were absolutely fantastic! I look forward to purchasing more from them at the Atchison Farmers Market.
