Wintergreens C.S.A.

There are a lot of choices in the Hudson Valley during the summer, but winter CSAs and farms have been hard to find until now. wintergreens is based in Beacon, NY, and is working to include low income families in its membership.

We buy shares in working farms, and freeze, dehydrate, ferment, and root cellar the produce to provide flavorful, local food all winter long. Our distributions are twice a month, from November through April. We work with four season farmers to include fresh items regularly, such as sprouts, salad mixes, wild onions, etc. Our C.S.A. is pure vegetarian, and does not include any animal products.

So far for the 2009-2010 season, we're working with Huguenot Street Farm (New Paltz, NY), Madura Farms (Goshen, NY), Common Ground Farm (Beacon, NY) and Fishkill Farms (Hopewell Junction, NY). As farms are added, we'll update our listing.

Fresh, local eating doesn't have to end just because summer ends. We bring our members fresh, frozen, dried, and preserved vegetables, herbs, fungi, fruit, sprouts, wildfoods, grains, and more.
