Wood Dell Tilth

To provide wholesome and healthy food to our community from a locally grown source... To create a farm where friends and family can come and enjoy the land where their food is grown... To welcome those interested to visit the farm and learn more about how their food is produced... To encourage dialog about the importance of sustainable food systems.

About the farm:

In the 1780's, a Revolutionary War soldier from Virginia named Archibald Beall survived the Battle of Blue Licks and was granted this land in Bourbon County (which was at that point, still a part of Virginia). He came here to farm and start a family. And he did. One wife and eleven children later, Mr. Beall had built a most beautiful home place: Wood Dell.

More than 200 years later, this same home place has given birth to Wood Dell Tilth. Here at the farm, vegetables, herbs, and flowers are grown without the use of synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Care is taken to nourish the soil and to encourage the microscopic universe to thrive beneath the surface. In the future, plans include raising pastured pork, free-range heritage breed poultry, and grass fed beef.
