Worms put out a by-product called castings. Earthworms as they burrow and swallow up to 1 1/2 times their body weight of soil daily, digest it, extract its food value and expel the residue as worm castngs. Castings are infinitely richer in nitrogen, phosphate, calcium, exchangable magnesium, and potash then the finest of top soils.
Castings are water soluble and immediately available as plant food. Castings are also time released, due to the slime covering as the worms expel them, and they are disease free. Castings will not heat up and burn your plants, it works as a soil ammender and will set in soil until the plant is ready to use it.
One pound of castings (because they are light and fluffy) is equivalent to a three pound butter tub. This type of organic plant food is said to increase plant appearance and up productivity by 4-10 times.
Castings can be used for seed germination. Mix one tablespoon of casting with a quart of water. Mix well and apply with watering can, apply with each watering. Outdoor plants and trees can be top dressed or spread castings 1/4 inch thick from the base to the drip line, then water. Lawn, top dress with 1/4 inch of castings and water. Apply every one or two months. The amount and frequency are dictated by the growth rate desired. Potting soil will require two or three tablespoons per quart of potting soil. A small amount of peat moss should also be added.
Castings have a natural sustained release quality and may be used on all types of plants, trees, shrubs, etc. The use of organic products actually reduce the cost of gardening in the long run because the long-depleted soil is gradually restored naturally and plants grown in this soil begin to develop their own defenses against pests and diseases.
Try this product your plants will love you. Its like a compost pile in a bag.
