The WW Durant captures the ambience of an opulent by-gone era by surrounding guests with wainscoting, stain and etched glass, gleaming brass, rich carpeting and polished oak, while at the same time offering the convenience and comfort of modern amenities. The Pohl family, who have owned and operated the business since 1991, are committed to utilizing local business services as much as possible in the conduct of their business, including building, outfitting and furnishing the vessel, signage, marketing and promotion, selling only NY State wines (Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Hector, NY) and water (Saratoga), focusing on NYS micro-brews (Lake Placid, Saranac and Ithaca) and incorporating locally and regionally grown foods as much as possible in a commercial application in Hamilton County. Chef Jim Pohl, a 2003 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, incorporates herbs from his kitchen garden in his recipes, including rosemary, basil, sage, mint, cilantro, thyme and parseley. He makes and bottles his signature salad dressing, Japanese Vinaigrette, which is sold in the End of the Line Caboose Gift Shop, adjacent to the Durant's home dock. The gift shop inventory is 90% local, regional and national product. We are committed to stocking almost exclusively Made in the USA products. Chef Jim's soups are legendary. His Japanese Vinaigrette is a favorite dressing. We offer 5 entrees on our dinner cruise: Certified Angus Prime Rib of Beef; grilled duck breast or chicken; grilled salmon filet; and either New Zealand rack of lamb or Ahi tuna. Our signature item on Sunday Brunch is our chef-smoked bacon and smoked meat platter including beef tenderloin, pork and turkey medallions as well as cheeses and a side of salmon.
