Started in 1994, The Yesteryear Farm comprises 110 acres along Mt. Vernon Creek, a tributary of the Sugar River in southwestern Dane County between Mt. Vernon and Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. The rolling landscape is a mosaic of farm fields, woodlands, and prairie oak savanna. Farm buildings include an oak log barn from 1856, a timber frame dairy barn from the early 1900s, and various others that show some of the evolution of farm architecture over the years. The farm is adjacent to the prairie oak savanna and woodlands of Donald Park, one of Dane County's newest parks.
As dedicated stewards of the land, we are promoting sustainable organic farming practices and developing a program of related educational and recreational opportunities, including farm tours, hands-on demonstrations of antique farm tools and equipment, and horse-drawn wagon and sleigh rides.
