We have two locations: a greenhouse/nursery for bedding plants in Highland, IN, and a vegetable farm near Lowell, IN.
On our farm, we grow a wide variety of vegetables, which we primarily sell at the Highland Farmers Market in Main Square Park at the corner of Highway and 5th on Saturday mornings from late June to mid-October.
At our greenhouse, one of the largest in Northwest Indiana, we offer a wide variety of bedding plants and flowers for your home or business including a full line of retail and wholesale, sun and shade annuals, perennials, herb and vegetable plants, ground covers, ornamental grasses, wave petunias, geraniums, roses, accent plants, and specialty plants. In 1903, Dutch immigrant Bartele Zandstra began farming vegetables in Highland. The business was passed on to three of his sons and in turn to two of his grandsons, current owners Arnold (Butch) and Nick. At its peak, the farm was more than 2000 acres, the largest truck farm in the south Chicagoland area. In 1990, Butch and Nick began operating a bedding plant nursery and greenhouse in addition to the truck farm and farm stand. The current greenhouse on Kennedy Avenue is exactly one half mile east of the original location.
