Zion farms is committed to supplying health and quality conscious individuals who desire an enjoyable and flavorful alternative to standard commodity meat products. We like to think of our customers as friends and partners, and we want you to feel comfortable about buying your meat from someone you know and trust. Our meats are low in saturated fat and free from unhealthy byproducts, antibiotics, growth hormones or anything we would be afraid to eat ourselves. We believe it is unnecessary, and potentially harmful to give drugs to healthy animals simply for the sake of accelerated production. We raise all our animals as stress free as possible in the great outdoors. The exercise of grazing, fresh air, sunshine and fresh pastures are the core issues for good animal health. From birth until market our animals breathe fresh clean air and graze on lush green grass.
Our broiler chickens are lean and tasty and offer a healthy alternative to commercially grown poultry. The taste and tenderness of the meat is second only to the healthfulness of the product. Other than brooding, our chickens spend no time indoors. All are raised in bottomless, movable pens on daily fresh pastures that allow them ample sunlight, fresh air, and bedding in predator proof environment. They are fed a custom ration, mixed to our specifications of scratch grains, non-medicated, vegetarian chicken feed.
The egg-laying, free-range chickens are allowed to dine on juicy bugs, tender grasses and a small amount of grain to produce full flavored eggs that are high in Omega 3 fatty acid and CLA, yet are low in cholesterol. The brown eggs have superior golden-orange yolks full of vitamins. Our chickens and turkeys are processed on the farm in a clean environment. Turkeys are available for fresh pick up two days before Thanksgiving. We will also freeze them upon request for Christmas holidays. Our Dorper sheep are hair sheep and do not produce as much lanolin so the meat is milder tasting than meat from wool sheep. We have exclusively grass-fed lamb available upon request. Our grass fed beef is raised in accordance with the principals outlined by Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm. Your meat order comes from ONE individual animal. In this way, you avoid all the food scares associated with commercial beef that surface from time to time. When you taste our delicious, tender, and juicy beef, you can be assured that you and your family are receiving the best nutrition and healthiest food available. We raise our beef using rotational grazing practices that utilize natural methods to optimize the health of the native grasslands. Our cattle are never put into feed lots to finish & are allowed to mature at their natural rate. The animals are allowed to live healthy happy lives, which results in beef full of Omega 3 fatty acid and beef that are not contaminated by acid tolerant e-coli. Rogue proteins which cause mad cow disease are not found in grasses, but in animal by-product supplements fed to animals in confinement settings. Our meat is higher in Omega 3's, Vitamins A, D, E, B-12, folate and carotene. Our prime beef calves nurse on their mothers and are not separated until slaughter around 600-800 lbs. We accompany our cattle to the federally-inspected abattoir to minimize stress. Our beef is dry-aged for 14-21 days for added tenderness and flavor, then cut, wrapped and frozen. Our customers are pleased by the taste and tenderness of our beef. We take reservations by request for whole, half, or quarter beef. Finally, we raise Berkshire Hogs because the meat, according to Florence Fabricant of The New York Times, is "darker, more heavily marbled with fat, juicier and richer-tasting than most pork, and perfect for grilling. The pigs are fed whey from the our cheese making, contributing to their health and to the tenderness and flavor of their meat.

We love the stuff from Zion Farms!!! It is so good to be able to know where our meat came from (and what is in it!)
