Happy Labor Day..Now let us start learning HOW to grow our own FOOD NOT Lawn to Fight Hunger :One backyard garden at a time!
Recently , I read a special reporting at Readers Digest on "Feeding America:By the numbers"..Here are some statistical findings to share with you :I quote"
41,200,000 Americans are Food Insecure.Meaning they dont know when or how they will get their next meal.
13 Million American Children Face Hunger that is 1 in 6 kids
1.5 Million Veterans receive Food Stamps
5.4 Million Senior Citizens currently face food insecurity " Unquote
Locally speaking , HUNGER numbers are not better off at Palm Beach County "Known as The #1 Agricultural County' in Florida , as well as home to the most affluent and the most poor . .

According to "Feeding Florida ":13.6% percent of the Palm Beach County Population is food insecure, with 189,940 people not knowing from where they will get their next meal. The food budget shortfall in Palm Beach County per person, per week is $19.79, with a total shortfall of $114,009,000."
By the way ,did you know that State of Florida Legislature has approved payment of $30 Million as reimbursement to PBC home owners for cutting down their Citrus Trees? May be you are one of them??
As a result Less fruit trees were left .Try to buy a small citrus tree now and find for yourself how expensive they are? Forget about citrus and try to buy a mature Tomato palnt and discover how expensive they are??
More food got lost to POLITICS or BUSINESS as Usual! No one who made the wrong decisions to cut HEALTHY citrus trees was held accountable .The public forgets !
Now the public has approved and voted on Medical Marijuana .It is BIG BUSINESS!! But : Is Marijuana a BIG NUTRITIOUS FOOD Supplement , or it is just an Alternative to replace the Tobacco industry that is now a losing business, thanks to more public awareness on the Health Hazards of smoking!
The Public is kept in the dark on the Health Hazards of Marijuana .Shall we wait another 100 years to find out if it is another misguided decision or vote? Why certain cities like Boca Raton have placed a MORITORIUM on Marijuana?
