Colorful, kid-friendly comfort food

Broccoli, Cauliflower and Carrots in Cheddar Cheese Sauce

 (Chip off the old block)

Blanch these nutritious vegetables (or any others you like) and serve them in a simple cheese sauce with Caribbean Lime Halibut or French Lentils with Sage Butter.  So easy that Jane can do it.

Steve has a contest on our blog.  We want to hear from you.  Leave a comment. We love to be interrupted.

Mini Pot Roast with Many Vegetables

This week at Cookus Interruptus we are featuring a pot roast where vegetables are the star and grass-fed beef plays a supporting role.  An expensive and comforting meal using potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onion and brussel sprouts roasted with red wine, broth, rosemary and beef.  Serve this with a cabbage salw and some pear-apple cinnamon crisp.  Local to swoon over...

Braised Greens

Braising is a tasty way to cook fresh, local seasonal dark leafy greens.  Every time I cut some kale from my backyard, I am thankful that I live in a house that has a yard big enough to grow a few greens and a climate that sustains them all winter. Yum.

Our web cooking show, Cookus Interruptus has a how to video on braising greens.  Have a look.
