French Black Cooper Marans

The French Black Cooper Marans chickens are some of the rarest chicken you will find in the US. They are knows for their very chocolate color eggs. They have not been excepted into the America Poultry Association yet but are well on their way due to many years of hard earn work from breeders here in the US and what imported lines that have been brought over.

Right the eggs are selling on ebay and egg bid at astronomical prices.

Be sure that if you ever decide to want to get into these birds to not just bid on what’s being presented.  There are a lot of breeders out there that are selling eggs that cannot be accepted as a true marans eggs. They are showing one color and hatching another. Be sure and ask your seller question about their lines they are selling. Such as when they state they are "imported".

Ask them when they were imported. Ask them did they import them? How they obtained their birds? And do they have documentation on them.

There are many sites out there that new folks that are so anxious to get into these birds are being misled with a lot of false information. So it is best to ask around, being open minded.

When these birds are excepted then I would imagine that there is going to be such a high demand for that more and more caution should be taken when acquiring them,

Here is a list of web site that will get a new breeders interested in true facts of some of the most important lines established here in the US.

Be sure and join up with the many folks who’s main interest is the birds themselves and not in the money making profit from them. These birds must remain true to the French Marans Standards. Those are the groups you need to associate with.
