Michelle Obama has a larger garden this year. Read about it in "The Christian Science Monitor":
Will This White House support small scale agriculture? Or are they going to turn local food regulation over to FDA? Follow this link to "S. 510: FDA Food Safety Modernization Act"

I think The White House Garden is a smoke screen by this administration to fool people into thinking they are in favor of locally grown food. Once Obama gets "S. 510: FDA Food Safety Modernization Act" passed by Congress, you can kiss small-scale gardening and farming goodbye.
This act will regulate farmers' markets, small organic growers, and possibly backyard gardeners right out of existence.
If S. 510 is passed into law, only large multi-national corporations will have the manpower to comply with this new layer of bureaucracy. How many thousand pages will this bill be? Will anyone read it before "Rahming" it through?
Enjoy your garden this year, Michelle, when your husband is out of office you'll be eating veggies from the supermarket, shipped from some unregulated country, half-way around the globe.
