We sure have had our share of rainy weather lately! It has put us a little bit behind in our planting, but we are about caught up. The lettuce is all growing, carrots, beans, potatoes, and the first round of sweet corn are all planted. We have a couple cucumber plants that really needed to be transplanted too, so those are outside. Our tomato plants are growing HUGE indoors -- I'm ready to get those in the ground as well, but to be safe we are going to wait a little while longer. The chickens are about 7 weeks old now -- getting big enough where the cats are starting to run away when the chickens come around!
We have almost all of our shares sold! :) We only have 1 left - which is great! We met with the extension office in Shelbyville and we were told that he wasn't sure if there was a market here for a CSA - that we are the first that he knows of in this area. So we are SO excited that people are interested in making the healthy choice of eating local and supporting the community.
One more work day before it rains some more and lots to do! This is going to be a wonderful season -- I am so excited! :) See you around the farm!
