Rogers Farmers Market

The Rogers Farmers Market held a Kids' day on June 22nd, 2011. The Kids' day entailed story time, word searches, coloring sheets, prizes and a chance to meet Mario and Cat in the Hat.

"I know who you are!" exclaimed an excited four year old boy as he walked into the market with his mom. "Your Marmio!"

"Close," I said, "It's me, Mario!"

The little boy laughed and laughed realizing his mistake. He was wearing shorts and a t-shirt despite the cold weather. Still in the middle of June the day's high had only reached 55 degress with a steady 10-20 mph wind.

I stood in my Mario costume, wishing it wasn't just made out of thin fabric everytime the wind blew but I was happy. The kids that came to the market were so excited to see something dedicated for them. About an hour into the market we even had a scare that we ran out of prizes to give the kids! Unfortunately, and in hindsight luckily, the weather kicked up and the rain began at 5:30pm. With the rain and wind combination all of the customers had cleared out by 6- along with some vendors. Kids day couldn't withstand the wind so we hope next time we will have good weather!
