Back in Biz

Hi, it's been a while since anyone heard from me in the farming world! I've been off for a while after I had my daughter. She's now 15 months old, and has been spending some quality time in the garden the past few days as we've been getting it cleared and ready for production again.

Needless to say, the briars had nearly taken over! We used a trusty DR Brush Mower, and the "top garden" is ready to till in certain places. We're putting up a greenhouse within the next month, so that will be a great addition to the garden space.  I plan to raise salad greens and extend the season for tomatoes, cucumbers, and whatever else strikes my fancy.

I had a wonderful time clearing out the old herb was like rediscovering old friends. The golden sage, lavender cotton, and everything else is happy (I'm sure) to have some breathing room.  Today I spent quite a lot of time raking (my least favorite garden chore) grass out of the greenhouse area, and clipping briars out of the raised beds.

I have big plans...more asparagus crowns, adding a raspberry patch, a garden house, armloads of flowers and tons of herbs...and I can't wait to see them all come to fruition!
